just in case some of you guy wonders, the newer 18wheeler have a collapse/crush zone also, the motor is designed to drop when it's been hit in the front. Volvo first doing this to prevent the driver from getting squeezed to death by the motor in front and cargo bed in the rear.

I believe those are anti suicide vehicle bomber vehicle barriers, to prevent the terrorists from fly through baracades. I saw it on TLC or something

Now I think they have hydralic ramps that pop up, as seen in some federal buildings.
