I remember the car. He did have itb's, along with a 3" exhaust system. It wasn't 300whp though...it was 250whp. He has since given up on the car if I remember correctly. I have the link to the video some where. let me see if i can find it.
2.5 stroker + ITBs only yielded 250whp?

I can't remember but he was one of the first and at stock compression with the stroker. Remember ITB's don't do much up top, but they did great for his midrange. His tp and exhaust helped him hit the 250 mark.

It's not made if you think about it. With slightly higher comp ratio, and full bolt ons you'de be able to get upwards of 260-270whp.

The ITBS were not on the car for that dyno. I would know. I was there And yes he did part it out and sell the car. He bought a longblock and a head and tried putting a stock motor back together. It didn't last too long. But it was definitely a good effort for a newbie. He has since sold the car to some kid in Arizona and now has a 350z. It made 250 wheel if I remember correctly, and was definitely a TON of fun when it wasn't eating head gaskets and overheating every week.

The blue WRX was my old love btw. I'm the funny looking kid named Mike with the big head.

To be honest with you why it chewed through head gaskets is up to debate. I think there was another fellow in arizona who was having similar issues and a tuner chalked it up to the deck design (closed). We never figured out why it did, and the kid ruined his relationship with inline by being slightly pompous. They didnt really want to deal with him very much and this whole propaganda war started here on s2ki. As a result we never found out why it did. I don't know if anyone else is having simialr issues. I would imagine they have worked out the kinks, as his was literally like the FIRST one.

I don't know exactly where that vid is, but I'll try giving him a call today ( which I doubt he'll pick up ) and ask him if he still has it. If he doesn't answer I'll just piss him off by facebooking him every 5 minutes.

Well being that he was possible the first 2.5L...I know that in the beginning the problem of the blown head gasket were actually because of the gaskets. The cometic gaskets used had issues, and soon after inline was finally able to track it and get that fixed.

Yea actually now that you bring that up, I remember discussion about a bad batch of head gaskets. It was a while ago, so the details on this whole thing are a bit fuzzy.

Either way, the kid was a jerk about it, called out inline and as a result anything found by inline troubleshooting the motor never came to fruition (at least the information was never passed along to him, and to be honest, I can see why.)

I don't know what came of this particular motor, I think someone took it on as a pet project.
