I have tested it many times, with the lid OFF, you can see a gain......that is if you have a fan on the engine bay while dynoing.

with the lid off, and driving on the street you will have alot of heatsoak and lost of power.
In his video, he has his hood open so no heat is trap under.
This has been explain alot, as for me i have a vented hood and SOMETIMES drive with the lid off for the wonderfull sound. With the vents you can see alot of heat coming out of the vents and solves my problem with heatsoak.
