I don’t know how many people actually looked at this S2000 at the show, but it was another car that I was looking forward to seeing at Wekfest San Jose. Efren Zapata’s S2000 is actually a Texas build that was brought over to Norcal to compete at WFSJ. I first spotted it in some random build photos through my friend Alex Zhao and was intrigued by all the custom body work. While I still feel that it is pretty ridiculous to turn a S2000 into a VIP-styled car, I really dig all the custom body work, from the one-off front bumper, to the custom fenders, and everything that is going on in the rear of the car. The paint is also really unique and pretty hard to capture on camera. It also has 18×10.5/18×12 WED’s Kranze Vishunu wheels on it, which is f@#king nuts for this particular chassis. Love it or hate it, I dig all the work that is involved in getting this car together and it certainly stands out in a sea of S2000s at the show. I’m not 100% sure, but I think this car is also on an Umbrella Auto Design Cup Kit suspension system that utilizes both a coilover and small air bag…

Hanzel Tango’s Mugen SS S2000 on Mag Blue Volk CE28… One of my favorite S2K builds ever…
Suzuka Blue Voltex-kitted AP2 S2000 with bright fluorescent green Enkei RPF1

White AP2 S2K with Spoon Sports S-Tai front bumper, rear fender flares and aggressive Volk CE28N in Mag Blue. Also looks to have wider Downforce front fenders

Sam Rahbari’s root beer brown S2000 on Avant Garde Function Series F140 wheels and Mugen front lip…

AP1 S2000 also with a Mugen front lip re-sprayed in a cranberry red tone with Volk TE37SL…

Dina Sakai, aka ATS Mama-san, brought out her J’s Racing-themed Honda S2000 on Airrex air suspension…

Interesting to see this S2000 at Wekfest SJ because I believe it is originally a build from Miami, Florida. I saw it for sale not too long ago and I guess someone from out here purchased the car. Pretty unique-looking S2K with Sorcery front bumper, Spoon front fenders, and ASM rear fender flares. It used to have some rare First Molding side mirrors too but I guess maybe the original owner sold those separately… I believe the car was also a lot lower before. Guess the new owner didn’t want to risk breaking that expensive Sorcery carbon front lip…

Black Mugen S2000
Sure, it has the same Mugen parts that many other S2Ks sport, but it's the fine mix of custom bits and clever organization under the hood that flow with the cars exterior and really set this car apart from the crowd. It might not make 500hp, but that certainly wasn't the goal. The fact that I walked by this car, then returned two more times during the day meant that I was sucker punched by its attention to detail and overall makeup. A job well done.-Honda Tuning Magazine ( Matt “Rodrez” Rodriguez)

Took home 1st place!

Overall the event was successful. All the other S2k's out there were tastefully done and well executed.
