Yeah, after three years, I decided I's had enough of the S2000. Just put too much money into it, and had nothing but problems along the way. In my current situation, it was not economical for me to have the S2, and my 03 TL, so I decided to get something that was still almost as fast, handles almost as well, yet would still give me some flexibility in terms of room, daily driving, and overall fun to drive!
I will miss the S, but will definitely be a part of this amazing community. I have definitely made some life-long friends on this forum, and I am forever thankful for that!
Hopefully I will have another S someday, but when that day will come, no one can say.
Enjoy some teaser pics of the new ride. The S2 is back to stock, and it goes away on tuesday at 2 PM when I go get my new toy. I will get some more pics up once it's oficially mine!
I am really excited to get this, but also very sad to let the S go. I said I never would.
duff: Thanks! From day one (bought the car new in June of 02) I had drive train problems. 2nd gear would grind within 2 weeks of owning it, diff went out at 13,000 miles, 2nd gear still grinds, clutch goes out at 25,000 miles, 2nd gear still grinds, another diff at 34,000 miles, still grinding 2nd gear, and now it would lock me out if I tried to downshift to 2nd coming to a light or making a turn, tranny failure (2nd gear bearing is toast) at 55,000 miles, dealer quotes 5700 parts and labor, I get a tranny from another member with 26K on it out of an 01 (this was just this past june). Now it needs a clutch, tires, and countless other little things....I just dont want to deal with it anymore!
nsx2fast: Yeah, the 6MT's get brembo 4 pistons up front....big improvement over the stocks on the autos!
Both cars I have now need some TLC, and i figured for the money I was going to spend on them, I might as well get a new car. The S2 is paid off, and the TL is the only car I am still paying on. Trading both cars in, I was about $10,500 in positive equity, so I used that plus another 1300 down, and I got them from 35,700 to 33,350 on the new one. It was not an amazing deal, but still good enough for me to accept it.
You'll enjoy the TL. I have an 04 Spec-A 6MT. It's a great car. But totally different from the S. The only gripe I have is that is really quiet and it's hard to hear it when you need to shift. But you'll love the low end torque.
