well apparently they have interest in putting a Toda TR-FX01 into ASM s2000 car number 1. This is a motor that has just been created for a new Japanese series called F20 that involves crazy prototypes with mandated 20 mm restrictor as the only engine rule. This motor seems to be no more or at least not much more than 1 liter displacement, maybe even less, apparently 800-1000cc is popular in concept due to the super small restrictor. Anyways, does it make sense for replacing the 2.4 liter stroker f20c for a 1 liter motor? Even if the 1 liter makes 200+ hp at 10000+ rpm lol dunno, it still won't have near the torque or punch that the f20c has, and I doubt that the motor is light enough to warrant a 110 hp difference. Anyways, pics at the link, a beautiful motor.

Also, they were present at I Heart Honda 2009. I don't think this has been posted yet, but the sound is awe inspiring... J's racing Fit, ASM Tsukuba Special, Esprit Turbo NSX, SS Works CRX... Oh yeah baby

Seems like the ASM s2k and Fit are a few seconds behind, although they're closing the gap under braking at the first corner, would be interesting to see what lap this is, and the Fit is closing on the ASM like WHOA

ASM has no real intention on putting the Toda TR-FX01. Kanayama-San writes his blog with a sense of humor that's very hard to translate into English. The current Toda built 2.4L F20C is producing 345ps and they're still in need of much more power. A 1 liter engine may produce 200+hp but there is no way it will have enough torque to power a 2000+lb car around Tsukuba any where under 2 minutes.

Nevertheless, a engine built from scratch is somewhat of an achievement for a small company such as Toda. Kanayama-San was just acknowledging that fact and curious to see what kind of power and sound it will make.

lol, I was not aware of that this was to be taken with a grain of salt, have you heard anything about what were the laptimes of the cars from the I heart Honda tuning battle? And since when did the ASM car have 345 ps?!?! I must be behind on the times or extremely confused. I thought the car had 305+ ps, unless that is to the wheels... Makes a little more sense if that's the case, but is quite incredible

I don't have the times it ran at the I heart Honda event but the car was there mainly for exhibition runs. It only did about 5-8 total laps and was having issues with the temperature that day so they didn't push the car. The ASM Tsukuba Special S2000 made 305ps in 2006, 325ps in 2007, and since 2008 makes 345ps. Kanayama-San is well aware of his unique writing style so he has hired a translator to translate of his blog posts but they are literal translations and some expressions really do get lost in translation.

? Okay guys, I never said the F20c was a torquey engine to begin with or lol a torque monster, I said a 1 liter motor couldn't compare (it would have to rev high to make power and in such would make low torque). It's all relative. And still, you guys think that the motor in car #1 doesn't have adequate torque? Even with a 2.4 liter toda race motor with ITB's? It's no ordinary motor and since it was the one I feared that would be replaced by the TR-FX01, it was the f20c I was referring to...
