WOW-opportunity to drive an amazing car
Just wanted to share some not so good pics of an awesome car with fellow S2Kers.
Sorry for the terrible lighting and quality of the pictures, I didn't anticipate taking any, but I figured hell, when is my ass ever going to touch the driver seat of a $200,000 car again.
It was a one time shot, so couldn't get any daytime pics, it was lastnight or nothing. I must say, it is an incredible experience to drive such a car.
2006 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG
6.0L 36-valve Twin Turbo V12 engine
604hp@4,800-5,100 RPM
738lb-ft torque@2,000-4,000 RPM
8-piston composite calipers
19" AMG wheels
Starting Base Price $185,755
Model as Driven $197,000

I must say, for the first time ever, it was a brief time of depresion, and "this sucks" feeling when getting back into my S2000. Oh well, there's always the lottery

i saw 1 of these about 2 months ago and it was amazing! all black, limo tint with black/polished lip 20's or bigger. DAMN! the brakes were insane! only bad part about this car i heard is that there's so much tq., trying to get traction is almost impossible to get a good launch. sick car though, and very rare!
They have a super-serious traction control system. This car should be a joke to launch, just like the other AMG cars. Turn it off and you have a problem (if it can be fully turned off). Leave it on and it should be a joke.
From a roll, I'd probably put this car up against just about anything on the planet and bet that it'd stick very close, if not beat, all of them (including an Enzo, Carrera GT, C6 Z06, and Ford GT) in a 40-160 mph sprint.
Bugatti Veyron's don't count.

Don't get me wrong, I'd gladly take one of these, but a couple "gripes" if you will,
they need much wider rear tires to handle the monsterous torque, almost completely uncrontrolable at times.
The paddle shifter on the steering wheel is very slow to respond and soft, the normal automatic drive setting is much quicker and muc more crisp.
Lastly, I want to hear my 604hp grumble and bark, this car was so quiet, actually, could stand to take it on a long trip!
I too have driven one.
The exhaust sound is nice IMO, but it sounds exactly like every other 55 AMG which is suprising given the completely different engine.
It is SO damn fast on the freeway... And SO comfortable... I love this car.
Thumbs up for you!!!
