The rain has subsided for the time being. the water is still dirty, and the town is still trying to clean up.

There was a levee break a few weeks ago, several people are still missing. there are mud and landslides everywhere. my favorite driving mountain, Tantalus, has been closed because of mud/rockslides. the roads have been reduced to giant crater with potholes thrown in for good measure. it's a mess.

Other than that, it's great. no matter how bad it is, we're still lucky to live here.

i feel really sorry for the visitors. many save up for a while to come and visit, and we had 43 (?) straight days of non-stop rain.

the crowd is 1/ 4 of the usual waikiki crowd.
because of the rain storm
it was empty.
