agree.
this pagani guy's all about mixing future + classic.
(he worked on countach anniversary design so he knows his shiet.)
and his wife's hour glass figure! (no joke.)
yes, in the end it all comes down to personal taste.
i too wish that the interior color was a bit more quiter.
i also see some italian design cheesiness here and there.
but saying "too many contrasting design themes",
"dash cluster is horrendous",
just shows you don't know jack about cars.

And its not just the "colors". Form follows function. The alcantara and suede interiors so popular in cars now is a prime example. They originate from the reduction of glare on the dash and added grip on the steering wheels and seats. But people just cover their whole interiors with it (hey, I think it looks cool, and more power to them), but you sort of lose the purpose of the stuff. That's all I'm saying with this interior. It doesn't have focus. OK, I get the carbon, the car is made out of carbon!! The wood is a throwback to the heydey of the Italian master coachbuilders (and the fact that they use it today in luxury cars to impart a well, "luxurious" feel), but I think it is in complete contrast to the carbon fiber. There's no real function to it. Again, the "quilted" sewing pattern on the seats and carpeting is a throwback to those "golden years" but it just seems to be completely out of place in this absolutely "modern", technological, cf'ed supercar. It just sort of looks like a cartoon (like a 12 year old designed it).
I'm, personally, not a big fan of using "retro" design cues just for the sake of using them (like the new mustang). You could argue that it is Italian, and they are trying to "pay homage" so to speak, to their amazing car builders but I just don't think it is done well.
Just look at the new Astons for example. The DB9 specifically. That has rich leathers, beautiful woods, and it is still a thoroughly modern, gorgeous interpretation of a classic Aston. Executed wonderfully.
Just my 2 cents

you having said that,
i kinda wish that they left this picture out.
The stitching is very nice, but nothing a good upholstery shop couldn't do. I would have used nicer fasteners (those phillips head screws look horrible); and the upper left corner of the carbon panel is thin, edgy, and sort of out of whack. Could just be a prototype tho??
Exposed screw heads, red perf leather, and unfinished carbon fiber on not things I would use on the interior of a million dollar car.
It seems to me that everything about the Zonda is over done. Like those kinds in high school that did everything they could to stand out and be original, when in actuallity it was more of a detriment than an aid.

thanx for your comments, marco.
That second interior picture you posted is more like it! I personally think some of the shapes and details are a bit cartoony but hey, to each his/her own. That's really cool, that you could literally order anything you want with the interior (although for a cool million, you'd better be able to!) I kind of figured the other was sort of a showcase; that's why I asked if it was a prototype interior or something.
Nonetheless, an impressive car!! I'm a sucker for those floor-hinged, adjustable (I think) pedals! I also dig the knobs in the seats! Although being as anal as I am, I immediately thought, God how much lint, dust, etc. would those things collect!
