I'm considering replacing the center console pieces and radio door on my AP2 2004 S2K. Would be looking to change all of the plastic silver bits to OEM black.

Radio Door
It seems like many on here have replaced the black AP1 radio door with the newer Silver door. I assume I can go the other way? Parts look identical, and I can't think of a reason they couldn't. Anybody recommend a place to buy a new AP1 radio door, or have a parts number?

Center Console Trim
These were changed to Silver for the AP2 and then to black (I think in 2006) The silver is really reflective and since my S is silverstone, all this fake aluminum clashes pretty well, or at least I don't love it like the rest of the car. Looking for a parts number here too. Thought I correctly looked up the price of the little hourglass-ish trim and the door, but the price was soo high I thought maybe I was incorrect.

Am I crazy to consider this? Is there something other than color that's different about these parts that make them more desirable?

 

Just look for a used one in the classifieds on here. Or I'm sure you could easily trade someone. Much easier to replace the entire vent/surround with the radio door attached than just the radio door.

 

Agreed. So you thinking the whole surround fits?

 

Yes they are all the same as far as I know.

As for the center console those pieces are by expensive. The console complete is over $600 I think.
Better off selling your complete center console used no then buying a used 06+ one.

 

Changing the door alone was pretty simple, took roughly 30 minutes start to finish. I got mine from majestic Honda.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the 06+ has the rear defroster button between the hazard and roof switch . So if you plan on just buying the plate your left with a void to fill.

 

the vents are not all the same because 06-09 had the seatbelt sensor indicator which didnt allow it to fit in my 02 so i had to remove the radio and install on mine.

 

Get the CR door! Its dirt cheap and awesome!

 

I thought that was fake yellow CF? I'm trying to replace the fake aluminum with something quieter and I don't think yellow will match any of my interior. Fake Carbon Fiber is against my religion.

Ordered someone's black AP1 door from ebay, hopefully it will match well. If anyone knows how to fabricate plastic parts, I think a tinted door for the S2K would be amazing. Combined with Modifry's DCI, I could use the dash controls and still see whats happening.
