Best fitting aftermarket seats
I'm completely redoing my S2000 for show and I'm trying to decide whether restoring the OEM leather seats or installing a set of aftermarket ones. The main issue I read about is that some seats sit much higher because of the replacement rails so my question is which aftermarket seats and rail combinations are drop-in, are more or less true the the original height and allow the same adjustability as OEM seats.
A lot will depend on how much you want to spend on the seats. You can get seats that recline or non adjustable bucket seats. For rails again depending on what seat you get you can use japan recaro rails but those only fit certain seats, or you can go with some pci, sos, etc rails that work with a wider range of seats. Since you're going for show I'd recommend some aftermarket seats like Recaro, Bride, ASM, etc.
Recaro Pole Positions
PCI sliders
/the end
Best fit & lowest seating position you'll get while maintaining good fit & quality. The ABE pole positions are the most ideal as they're a road-going version of the seat, so it's wider around the hips to accommodate a wider range of body sizes, but the pole position overall is a more forgiving seat anyway, so long as you're not obese.
The PCI rails are the golden standard. The design has been revised to sit as low as possible, and they're built like absolute tanks. The only other rails I know of that get as low, maybe even a few mm lower, are the BuddyClub rails, but they've been known to be poorly constructed and break at the welds. I suppose you could just have them re-welded for more rigidity, but for a little more money up front, you can get some proper USA made rails that fit great and work even better.
Admittedly, I am a little biased, though. In my opinion, the Pole Position is right at home in the S2000. Had an S2000 with a black interior come furnished with black leather ABE pole positions and I didn't know better, I would've assumed they were a factory option Recaro kinda like other sports cars. They just fit so well and look so good in an S2000, unless you have your own absolute personal preference of wanting to fit another seat, the Pole Position is the de-facto unanimous choice.
