Default Drinks partition removal

Hi all.
Ive recently clubbed some cash together for some small interior projects after plenty of chat and not enough action.

Soon after i bought the car last year i realised i didnt have a drinks partition in the centre console do ive just bought one from Lings and fitted it. I thought this was a plug in and off you go job but ive made the grave error in not getting the spring the wrong way around so the arm doesnt pop up. How annoying.

Question is how do i get this out without breaking it and how do you install it so the spring at the back slots into the grove correctly? I can barely see what im doing...

Cheers
Lee

Remove the console and put it on your workbench (AKA kitchen table for many of us). Lots of room and light to see what you're doing. Other than removing the shift knob and the wiring connectors the console cover just snaps off (look in the maintenance section for details).

Good time to wire in some accessories there too.

I thought you might say that... haha. Right then. Thats my saturday afternoon sorted. Not quite worked out what id like by means of accessories yet. Any ideas? Maybe a cable for phone cradle or something. Id quite like a built in sat nav but im not one to chop holes in stuff like that.

I think the trunk/boot release wiring comes thru here. Some time when I've got spare time I' considering switching that circuit over to Ignition On rather than Always On to add some security. Or add a USB serial charging port for stuff like phones.

Thaks Chuck. I have a bullet charger with usb connectivity to providing i have a wire for my phone in my glove box im all set. The boot thing doesnt worry me too much as i have nothing in it other than my spare wheel.

Wrll i got the centre console off with ease but the divider took me ages to fiddle into place. Realised eventually to tape the spring in place by compressing it then taking the tape off once id got the plastic in place.

I think id like to pull a usb wire through the console and up behind the back of my dash and out via a vent. That way i can suction mount my sat nav without cutting any great big ugly holes in anything and have no loose wires but we'll see. Next interior job is seat refurb with some seat colourant ive just bought

Thanks again

Setting the spring right is annoying. I did it many years ago and I forget exactly how it sits. Just mess around with it for a while until you get it right. Good luck

I've got a full Ap2 silver cupholder for sale if anyone needs one. I just bought a CR version, and my ap2 silver one is in mint condition, almost new.
