Hi all,

So I was cleaning my seats for the first time (I picked up the car used not long ago) and I noticed as I scrubbed, it stated to look better and then I noticed a kind of layer peeling away. Then some white began to show.

My question is, from these pics do you think the dark area is just dirt and old chemicals, or does it look like some kind of top coat from a repair? What do you think it is?

When I scrub in that area, the rag turns a bit red if that helps diagnose the issue. As you can see the parts I clean start to look like the OEM colour.

Thats interesting. I wonder if the seats were so faded they colored them to make them look better. Did you get the car from a dealer or individual?

 

It was from a dealer. I think it was repaired and I am actually taking off the repair materials (dyes, clear coats etc) by cleaning it. I guess it will have to be redone. Here is pics of it now after all the cleaning.

 

Has been repaired and dyed for sure.
