Leaking Interior
Im having a bit of trouble , trying to figure out what exactly the issue is. The S seems to be leaking a bit, down around the foot space in front of the seats. On the passenger side, its more or towards the right side (door) and on the driver side, its up against the door just beneath the lever to adjust the seat. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Perhaps something is worn out somewhere? I do keep the car outdoors, as I do not have a garage. Its a 00' - AP1 , soft top.
Again, anything suggestions or input would help, as Im relatively lost on what the issue is.
Thanks

Thank You for the response, I did in fact have the roof replaced recently, interestingly enough you knew that. Ill have to give them a call on Monday and take the car back up there.
Thanks Again.
Thanks Again.
Mine is leaking on the drivers side..I literally have a puddle where the pedals are and Im not sure where it's coming in from. I also have some water near the seat adjustment lever but most of the water is by the pedals. My plastic window is cracked and leaks a bit but it's obviously coming in somewhere else. I'm probably getting a new top in a few weeks. I hope that solves the problem. The only thing I can think of is the window gasket is failing somewhere in-between the window and top. Is it usually suggested to replace the gaskets or stripping when you replace the entire top?
The gasket is probley worn out on your car SFMarine0331. I have done many many tops (think im at 45 s2000's) and I always inspect the gaskets and havnt seen any with ones bad enough to replace.
The BIGGEST part about installing a new top is the rain rail, how they mounted the top into it, if they got it in the proper position and the part that I'm guessing is wrong with yours 00blackap1 is that at the very end of the rain rail it has to go into a plastic drain funnel which directs the water OUT of the car, yours is getting directed INTO the car which in turn is flooding your interior.
A easy way to test this theory is to get a water bottle. Poor it between the top and the car body in the very corners (near the 90 degree) angle of the top. If you see the water go straight down and out the bottom of the car then you are ok. If you see a little bit out the bottom but not all of it, then go check your interior!

I did the top, and have done atleast 15 s2000s. Never had an issue.
Crofton, what do you mean how you mount it to the rain rail? The top doesnt NEED to be mounted to the rain rail...You can leave the rain rail in the car, open it, slip the top over the studs, put the front of the rain rail back on, and then close it, and put your metal brackets up. The rivets arent needed. As far as i know, and have seen, the rain rail is not "adjustable".
I looked at this car today...his is actually leaking in the front corners of the rain rail. First time ive ever seen it. Not 100% sure how to fix it or anything yet. We will see what he drops it off!

The fact that the car had the top riveted to the rain rail should be a good sign that it needs to be mounted back to the rain rail.
How and why did you drill our the origional rivets while it is still in the car? Its realllllly easy to just pull it all out, clean out the rain rail and then re install it all.
The corner of the rail rail where it is leaking is due for a miss alignment/ placement of the ends into the drain rail (part of the car). Its an easy fix when the car is already apart but now you have to take it apart again to get to the corners and slide each end into place.
Good luck.
and just a tip, instead of using pop rivets to put the top and rain rail together, you can use short screws and nuts with washers and get the job done properly

Well i pull the rail out to take the top out, but there no need to waste the time to re rivet it back to the rail. Drop the rail back in, put the top over the studs, and close the rain rail. At this point, the metal peices that hold the top in place are now smashing everything together...how do the rivets do anything? The rivets are there for ease of installation. Miatas are also riveted to the rain rail..but Ez-on actually suggests NOT reriveting it.
