Default Mugen hardtop lining

I recently ordered a Mugen style FRP hardtop. I thought it might be cool to add a headliner rather than having exposed fiberglass. Is there any reason not to apply a headliner material such as the one shown in the link with a 3M spray adhesive? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

no reason at all. YOu might run into a few corners where you will get wrinkles or you can fold over the edges. Just be sure to use a good amount of adhesive so it wont come falling down or bubbling.

Great. Thanks for the advice. I am surprised more people haven't talked about doing this. Seems like it would be fairly easy and cost effective and add a little more refinement to the cabin with no real added weight.

I have had a lot of interest for making custom headliners but yeah, a diy headliner hasn't caught on yet.

+1000 on a headliner DIY or a cheap alternative group buy.

It has already been talked about. We completed a custom headliner as well as a customer installed option. Problem was it was just too expensive. Here's the thread where we completed the custom option in full blue Ultrasuede.

I remember this, looks great.

Thaat is the same problem i ran into, the cost of making it. To add french seams into it and have a reall exotic car look is a lot of time, money, and people dont want to leave the hardtops with you forever.

I will be doing a custom headliner for my mugen style hardtop in a few months. Ill post pics when done.

Not so much the time involved. If material is in shop, we can complete the headliner in a few hours easy. It's just the cost of it.

The blue suede option is something more like what I would like to do. So I wonder how difficult this would be? I would like to get a piece of faux suede and essentially apply it with spray adhesive and a heat gun. The question is it possible to make it look night and taught with one giant sheet rather than sewing multiple sheets?

You have a PM. Yes it is possible to have it tight, as the blue Ultrasuede piece was one large piece. It just takes work.
