Driving top down on sunny days I get a lot of reflective glare from the aluminum compartment cover on the console. Rather than apply a black matte paint, I created a removable cover using a thin plastic sheet, a piece of suede leather, and some velcro. I cut the plastic and the leather to the dimensions of the cover, leaving the leather short by a quarter inch at one end where the plate would slide under the armrest. Then I glued the plastic sheet and the leather together, added small strips of velcro at the gear shift end, and then cut the just the plastic sheet in half (not the leather), taping the two pieces to form a hinge so I could fold back the end piece to get access to the hazard button and the top control. I am not a craftsman and this job shows it, but it works!
