Default Roof latch stuck closed

So my driver's side roof latch stuck closed and the button doesn't do anything. I am going to order a new one but I don't know how to get the old one off to replace it. On the passenger side I can see it is held on by a philips head screw but I don't know how I am going to get to it if it is stuck closed. Any secrets to manually tweak it open? The roof is down now.

Look at your other latch for reverence. When the button is pressed a "thingie" slides toward the hook (tip the hook back out of the way). That "thingie" can be moved aft by hand with something like a screw driver. Verified this with the roof open and latches closed in the last 5 minutes I suspect it works the same with the roof up and latched as the thingie is visible then too. A "back door" or "fail safe" to release the latch in the event of a parts failure.

Let us know if solves your problem.

Thanks a lot. I saw exactly what you described and I was able to pop it with a small screwdriver. I appreciate the response as I am still learning all of the idiosyncrasies of the car.

I sold the passenger side for $80 and that included shipping.

Sorry I ended up not needing it. I took the other side out to see how it worked. The driver side was missing a plastic piece internally and I ended up finding it under the floor mat. Two screws later and I was back in business. I really appreciate your guidance though.
