S2000 2005 spare tire locking hardware
Hello everyone, I have a quick question. I looked online and on YouTube, but I can't find the information I'm looking for. Does anyone know what secures the spare tire in place? My car has a gold screw that is supposed to hold the tire down, but it still feels loose and flimsy even after tightening it. When I drive over bumpy roads, I can hear the tire moving and making noise.
Thanks, ALPHA

Just a gold wingnut type of bolt, with a rectangular part that interfaces with the wheel. Sometimes if the wheel is not centered when you tighten it, you will think it is tight and then will work its way loose. After you tighten it, push the spare back and forth a bit and see if it wiggles. If so the thing will likely center and you can tighten it more. Should just need hand tightened.
Is the spare tire OEM size? Is the wheel "right side up"? Only had mine out one (1) time to replace the 18 year old (long aged-out) tire and I don't remember which side is up -- but it doesn't rattle!
