Default How to remove spare tire

I see the spare tire has a section that looks like it can be twisted,
I cant seem to twist it by hand.

Do you remove spare tire by twisting the center thing or how do you remove spare tire ?

Yea the gold piece in the middle should be holding it down with a rectangular plate, it just twists off. It's probably just super tight to prevent it from coming loose and rattling since it seems to be a common problem.

You can probably find a rock or something to hit it and loosen it. But anyways, in the case where your rear tire goes flat, make sure that you move one of the front tires to the back and put the donut in front. The rear diff will get damaged driving on a donut.

Sometimes grabbing the spare and moving it while turning the wing nut will allow it turn easier.

Place a flat object (piece of wood) against the edge of the gold T bolt. Gently hammer the flat object and it should loosen.

Once you remove the T bolt, I would put nickle anti-sieze on the thread to prevent this from ever happening again. Also inspect the face of the spare tire, my guess is that the face is stuck to the body of the car.

Let us know if you get spare tire out.

FYI inflate the tire to 60 psi.
