Silver/grey trim
g'day guys,
i own a '01 S and when i picked up the car, the previous owner must of had a large bracelet or a large wrist which was able to scratch the silver surround around the gear shifter. I was just wondering what the material actually is so i could possiblly get something to polish out the imperfections as it makes the interior look a million years old.
Have any of you polished? sanded? resprayed the area and is it removable away from the centre console to do this or is it all one piece?
any advice will be appreciated
thanks

i know some people have painted it, but i have the same problem and i am planning on covering it with some 3M DI-NOC carbon fiber. it's a heavy duty vinyl that has the texture and feel of carbon fiber. kinda cool stuff. check in the interior section, i know there was a guy who did his entire interior, just to get an idea of what it looks like. good luck!
yup, you can use rubbing alcohol to take the coat off to reveal the shine underneath. takes about 15-20 minutes, but it does turn out nice. I would give that a try and see how you like it. then you can go from there. good luck! post some pics when you're done.
