Small tear in passenger seat
So I discovered a small tear in the passenger seat and am pretty upset. It's only four perforated holes long right now. I know that area is extremely hard to repair apparently. The passenger seat is in remarkably good condition as the car only has 40k miles and the passenger seat was probably never sat in from the looks of it. I think the previous owner let the car get rained in as the perforated material is stiff despite me conditioning it.
All this being said, as crazy as it sounds. I'm fine buying the original OEM leather to have the seat refinished. I know it's stupid expensive but the car being an 06 the seat is rather old. I don't drive it much so it would be great to have a newly refinished seat that I could care for from day one rather than whatever the hell a previous owner used on it, or subjected it to. Does anyone know the part numbers that I would need to refinish the seat, just the leather as the foam appears to be great.
Alternatively, even if it's not OEM material, I'm fine having it refinished with better quality material as long as it appears original.
Sorry for the long winded post, any help is much appreciated.

if its along a seam, it is a fairly easy fix. At about 40K miles, my lower seat cushion separated along a seam.
1. remove the seat
2. unbolt the section
3. remove the hog rings and remove the seat cover.
4. get some high strength thread and a needle.
5. start sewing, then put it all back together.
If its an area in the material itself, do #1-#3 and take it to an interior specialist. I suppose they may affix a piece of reinforcement material on the back surface and be done with it. See what they say.
good luck

I've been tempted at times to have the local moonlighter down the road from me recover both seats in higher quality material that looks oem and also re-shape the driver side bolster while he is at it. He does excellent work by all accounts. I suspect he could turn these seats into something much better than oem.

I think I'd try having it repaired first. Replacing the seat cover requires buying the whole piece and it's pricey for what it is, plus installing it. I'd think a reupholsterer could fix it for much cheaper and you'd probably never know it was there.
