Default Softop repair prevention

Hello s2ki I thought I would let you guys know what I did in order to prevent tairs in the top. What I did was frist I went to Joann fabric and bought nylon iron on patches and E-6000 glue. You get to patches in the package that are the same size. In order to make the patch thick enough to prevet the bars from tearing the top, I ironed the two together then cut two patches each the size of the small rectangle sticky notes! Then I glued them where a spot had began a small wearing. I am very pleased with the outcome because the material and glue is bendabe and will prevent me from having to pay 500 for a new top a little longer! Any questions feel free to pm me or post in this topic. And now for pics,
The little wear mark

This is what I was looking for! Other threads recommended me to use gorilla tape from homedepot.

The critical thing is to fix the source of the problem, which is the sharp/burred bar ends. See Honda TSB 09-033; it shows how to fix the problem that causes those particular soft top tears in the first place. Good luck!

I was planning on doing this but did not want to glue anything to my top.

Anyone have a reversible solution?
Some sort of real sticky fabric tape maybe?

i will eventually but i like the soft top.
the S being a convertible was a HUGE selling point for me.
hard top changes all that.

now tht its getting cooler out, i do feel the need to at least look in to getting one.

i plan on getting one once i can get in to a house with a garage.

A number of other threads on this topic suggest Tear Aid or Tenacious Tape.

Honda has replaced my top twice already under warranty. Both times they have tried to fix the problem based off the suggestions on the TSB posted above. Yet after each swap, and about a years passing I've seen tears. They said this time they really went to extremes to shave, and fix the issue, so I'm hoping I don't see any tears.

I just slapped some black duct tape on the wear areas and around the bars.

Should do the trick.
