The machine shop will have to drill the hole out bigger and put a threaded insert deeper inside... You will need a bigger hole anyways to "sink" onto the shift lever shaft (without bottoming out)
Great idea btw. I'd like to see that!..

I have the ctr knob (same as CR but with red letters)... it dosent get nearly as hot/cold as the stock knob did.
It can sit out in the sun all day and never get as hot as the steering wheel.
Its not countersunk per-se, but it sits a good bit lower than the stock knob.
