Default Tips for installing a CR center console in a MY2004 AP2

Recently I obtained a mint condition CR center console (just the upper part, not the stitched yellow areas...no shift boot or leather wrap lower-console area).

I've found a couple write-ups on how to install this piece, which includes from the trim around the shift boot all the way back to the elbow pad thingy. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for the install process. Specifically, because the OEM Cr console has a blank button where the soft top switch would be. I notice that the blank button seems to screw in from the bottom of the console.

I'm not so concerned with the defroster switch on the center console, because I will likely wire that toggle switch to some function TBD.

I'm not the most mechanically inclined person, so any help/tips/tricks are much much appreciated.

Thank you in advance .

Soft top will screw right into that blank spot. your elbow pad will screw right onto the center console as well.
The shift boot it a bit more tricky. has snaps in the plastic ring and small pegs that go through the material to keep in place. pop the trim loose and attach to your new center console. done deal. good luck

Ok cool. My console came with an elbow pad so that should just be included with popping the console on. That's reassuring the soft top button will screw into the blank hole with ease. Any tips on the popping of the center console? I have this magical ability to break plastic clips on interior pieces and trying to keep the magic to a minimum.
