Any Meets in NY???
we haven't had one in a while....everyone seems committed on coming and then the day of the meet no one shows up...we're lucky if we get like 5 cars going. let's try to set something up...i'm down for a good drive
New York - Long Island Meet Proposal
A meet on L.I. would be different than the Dragon or Fall colors because of the proliferation of police here - and the desire to enforce speeding laws that seems to be lacking in Pa, Tennessee, and No. Carolina (comparatively speaking).
We would have to more or less go with the flow of traffic or possibly ALL be stopped at once ....
But the event would be great - a cruise down to the south shore and along ocean parkway - a slight diversion to the south onto fire island and around the water tower there - back up to the north to the southern state parkway and then east on Sunrise Hwy to South Hampton, East Hampton, and then on to Montauk Point and the lighthouse .
We could all go up to the top of hte lighthouse and then we would continue back east...
We would take the ferry from the south fork over to Shelter Island and eat at the Rams Head Inn -- then take the ferry
from the north side of shelter island to the north fork - and start our migration back west --
along the way we would stop for a winery tour --
depending upon the time we would consider eating a second meal in Port Jefferson.
Then we would head back west ...
The whole itinerary would only be doable if we got an early start; and the ferry to shelter island would probably only work if we had 50 or less cars ...
The initial meeting place would be in Western Nassau - possibly at roosevelt field or else one of the county office building parking lots (empty on weekends)...
figure that the trip east to montauk would take about 2.5 - 3.5 hours - depending upon how much time we stopped in Southhampton ( we could just drive through both East and South Hampton -- )
Anyone have any thoughts on this ??
