Buttonwillow
Are there any So Cal WLA S2000 drivers interested in a day at Buttonwillow Raceway? It looks like we can rent out the track for a day. Check out http://www.buttonwillowraceway.com. Let me know who is interested?
Renting out a racetrack is expensive but if we can get enough people to make the price reasonable per person I'd be interested. For those who haven't been there, Buttonwillow is a very nice track and a lot of fun in the S2K
I'd probably be in, depending on date and assuming a no-passing rule. Note it is a 2 hour haul up the 5 from south-east LA. Do you know if they require proper roll bars (not our mini-hoops) for a track day? We don't need bars when CalClub SCCA runs Auto-X on the East loop but our speeds run maybe 75 MPH max getting around cones. And we STILL get some 10/10ths runs into the weeds!
I need to call over and find out all of the info. We would need about 50 cars to make it reasonable for everyone since the track costs anywhere between $2,500 and $3,500 for a full day. But if enough people are interested, it would make a great event.
You can count me in just give me the date. Also when I have run with other clubs in the past they had it open to all passenger cars to help get enough people to come. The majority of the cars will be S2000, but having to share the track with a few non-S2000s is better then not having the event at all. Also I had talked to a couple of people at the WLA meet and told them that I have a couple of friends that race in SCCA club events and they properly would help us as instructors for people who have never driven on a track before

Please email me if you are interested in going and if you can help organize. I will check with the track for open dates. I assume that the weekend would be the 1st choice. Also, this event can be open to everyone who is interested including non S2000 in order to get enough people.
I'm in. And the NorCal folks should be interested as ButtonWillow is only 3-4 hours for them (at a good clip and if they can get out of the city without too much traffic).
BTW, I haven't run BW in over a year, but last time I did, there were several convertible TAs, Camaros and Stangs running without roll cages, and those cars have no rollover protection to begin with. So we shouldn't have a big issue.
