The gladfab shims are made to go underneath the two bolts that mount the striker itself. I don't believe the stock shim is made to go in that location, at least based on # 8 in this picture:

Check out this install video GladFab posted on YouTube:

It looks like the GF shims install in the same place as OEM? I could be wrong since I've never done it before.

The shims are nothing special you can use two washers per striker plate (one under each screw/bolt), works just as well and you can find washers for next to nothing. Any washer that fits a 6mm bolt will work.

Driv300mph's comment is correct. The OEM shims are supposed to be sandwiched between the hardtop and the lock. The GladFab shims are sandwiched between the windshield frame and strike. I don't know if they solve the same problem or different ones.

That is correct. To tighten the front of the hardtop you remove some oem shims from under the front latches, and/or add washers under the front strikers. Adding shims under the front latches makes the front of the top more loose.

Every rattle is slightly different, I've solved rattle issues on my OEM hardtop and my Mugen hardtop, you just have to isolate the type of rattle that you have as there are multiple reasons for the rattles.

When I had my oem hardtop I had to replace the front strikers with hardtop strikers as my ap1 only had softop strikers. I also replaced the front latches as they seemed to have lost their tension. I completed several adjustments of the hardtop as per the procedure listed in the shop manual and hardtop installation guide.

I recently repaired a rattle on my front latches of my Mugen hardtop by following the instructions in this thread https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/372...rattle-fixdiy/ , I took the foam one step further and installed a nice square of foam inside the latch to keep pressure on the latch while it is closed so it doesn't bounce around. It instantly worked.
