3M Carbon Vinyl in engine bay?
Hey everyone, I'm putting my OEM airbox back into my car again, and wanted to make it look a little better. I have seen tons of people use the 3M carbon vinyl on their hoods and such, and thought I saw an NSX engine bay with the fuse box and stuff done in it. My question is, if I did my airbox lid in it, do you think it will last at all with the heat in the engine bay?
Also has anyone applied this to something, then clear coated it with paint for protection and a gloss finish?
It would be appreciated.
I smoothed out my old airbox lid and still have it. I would use the vinyl to cover this, and it will be all flat. Here is a pic of it.

I did it with just body filler first, and thats how it turned out in the pic. Since then I sanded it back down and added some fiberglass resin since I wasnt sure if the filler would stand up to the heat. It looks exactly the same again, painted black.
^ I actually took that one off because I got a PWJDM lid. I traded my airbox with that lid for my FIPK, and I needed a little extra cash for Christmas so I traded it for an OEM airbox and got $120 on top. I'm going to be getting a different intake later on, I just want to do something different with the OEM box so it looks a tad bit better.
the 3m CF vinyl, should work fine, that stuff holds up pretty well in direct sunlight for prolonged periods, and you know that it is applied with heat gun/ hair dryer. I would use the primer as well that goes on pre vinyl. Be sure to post up pics..

hmmm I'm not sure if it will work for that long to be honest.
The 3M expands and the underside tack becomes sticky from heat.
I'm guessing the engine bay heat might be too much for it and make the vinyl want to lift and not keep shape.
