Default 4.44 gears and me

I installed the 4.44 gears about 5-6 months ago. My first impression during the 500 miles break in period were.....blah.
After the period i drained the diff fluid and went with some good stuff. Gave it a few miles to have it all lubricated right. Floored it and still.......blah.

My gf didnt even notice the gears nor do my friends that have ridden in my car. As for me im greatly dissapointed. Maybe i should have gone with the 4.77 but i would not recomment this setup

I raced a yellow s2k on the street the other day. I dont know his mods but for sure he had an intake and exhaust. And as we went through the gears id pull at first then he'd catch up being nose to nose with me.

I still feel the same as stock plus i dropped 3-4 mpg. Loosing the mpg would be fine if i did notice the extra umph through the gears but...nada

lol, I think you are miss led in thinking that gears will solve your lag of torque problem.

To me, all gear does is help us get to our power band quicker. So if the yellow s2k have more power than you, and once he's in his power band same as you are, of course he will inch up on you.

Sounds like you need to do some kind of FI to satisfy what you are looking to get out of your car. I doubt even 4.77 will do it.

I'd say save your money and keep your 4.44 and get a 75 shot and see how you like it, and maybe use that as a reference point to see if you want to go turbo or S/C down the road.

I'm running S/C, 4.3 FD and AP2 tranny, and I think its just right. Get to power band quicker than stock AP1, but still have plenty of gears left to use for the S/C.

i know i know, my point with bringing that up is i thought it'd wake up my car. But it didnt. Gearing gets to the power band quicker...soooo...in essence it should make me quicker.

hmm, I felt a difference when I installed my 4.44s. My mileage in the city went up and I could cruise in 6th going 40mph and still pick up speed. It did feel like it had more torque.
