4.77
hey i am going to fit my 4.77 from KIA next week and i cannot find any topic that specific says what you need for the built.. i now have just the ring and pinion.. please tell me what else i need..(part numbers)
Thank you!!
Thank you!!
Christaki,
You will need the cup and bearing as well. Im not sure if these will work directly from your current 4.1.
Why are you putting a 4.77 though? That is way too short. Just to give you an idea, 6th gear on the highway will be about the same as 5th gear with the current 4.1.
Try going from Kiti to Nicosia and back with 5th gear and your J's exhaust, it wont be fun.
Also, why do you want to put a 4.77?

4.77 gearing will help tremendously *off the line*, but won't improve acceleration in general from a medium to higher speed roll (it will depend totally depend on starting speed and distance covered whether they help or hurt).
Power/weight is not improved, general overall acceleration performance is not improved. Just acceleration times from zero (or very low speed).

4.44 on an ap1 is the best compromise if you want the added snap, but keep your (shifting to speed) intervals in check. Red line in second gear falls exactly at 60mph, so still only one shift to be made, unlike any other higher gear choice. So you will gain the best gearing advantage and shift time for 0-60mph with 4.44. And not completely kill the rest of the drivabilty of the car either. I just prefer stock gearing and a tune though these days. Gearing is a band aid for lack of power, an band aids are a compromise.
