Default 4.77's installed

Just picked up the car today from Fullblown with the 4.77's installed. LJ was great to work with (like I knew he would be) we had one little hiccup however. After driving off and entering a 40 mph road, I shifted into 3rd gear and noticed I was going over 90 mph! I knew the gears didn't add THAT much acceleration so I brought it back. LJ took care of everything right away by tweaking the yellow box a bit. We had to go around the block a few times but its all good now. There is a difference for sure. Not a shocking one, but the car does feel "lighter" now, like there is less to lug around. It feels more awake just driving around town and pulling low rpm half throttle pulls. I have not really gone into VTEC yet, I guess I am suppose to break them in for 500 miles. I know that involves no launching (not that I do) or hard shifts, but can I still bring it up to 9k as long as I have smooth shifts? Anyways, I like the mod so far...

there's no need to beat on them or rev it out - after 500 miles drain and refill the diff and have fun.

Thank, that's what I thought. Very hard to do when you get a new toy on the S though...

ive switched to 4.77 gears as well. Its great for 1,2, and 3rd. but for me 4th and 5th is lacking as compared to stock 4.10's. at thunderhill where you spend most of the time at 4th and 5th, i feel like im losing the top end. Is it just in my head?

Man, I wish I could give you some insight to that, but I have never tracked my car let alone pushed it yet with the new gears in it...

You lose top end with gears. You give up top end for acceleration. The higher the gear ratio, the lower top end you will get. A car with 4.77's will max out at like 14x MPH whereas a stock 4.10 will max out at like 17x. You're turning the differential a bit faster to get the acceleration.
