Thumbs up Aftermarket seats with side mounts

Hi, I plan to get some buddy club side mounts and a side mount seat (not sure what one) soon. I only want to do this with the driver seat but I was wondering...

Will it look stupid? What I mean is... from outside the car, will the lowered driver seat have a huge gap between the top of it and the roll hoop? I have heard that you can get up to an extra 3" and almost have the seat on the floor, but I don't want the seat to look to 'short' for the car compared to the passenger one.

can anyone comment on this? It would be greatly appreciated!
And if you've done it, post a pic with the top down please.

Chris

If you get a full bucket seat and low mount seat rails, you will DEFINITLY see a difference in height between the two.

If you dont like it, get 2 bucket seats OR move the passenger OEM seat a little forward and recline the seat a bit back, this way it looks lower.

Very good point!
If I have a passenger (hardly ever), they are most definately not as tall as me

In a perfect world, I would be able to mount the OEM seat as low as a side mount one, and extend the back support a few inches to give me better lateral stability and fab a little cushion or something to fill the gap between the butt rest and back rest.

Have you thought about the BYS seat rails. They say it lowers it about 1.5". I put them in my car and have noticed a difference traveling. You can see a difference as well from the outside on the hight, but if one seat is reclined more then the other, that happens as well.

Look in the group buy section. They may have one going on.

yea i've looked into the bys low mount seat rails. I don't know though, I feel that I could make something similar in my garage for about $20. They are WAY overpriced imo, and i'm looking to get a little more than 1.5". Afterall i'm 6'4" heh... but closer to 6'5", i just don't tell ppl that

Just found the Group Buy on them. Looks like they have more. I am 6' 4" as well and did it and am happy. I was thinking about the seat mod on the pan. But opted for a safety. Being a father of 4, I thought I would spend the cash, rather then have a problem. If you still want to do it yourself. Look for the seat mod. I'll look for it now and see if I can find it.

Found the link for lowering it yourself with pictures. Check it out. I thought a long time about it. I was starting to look for a seat pan from a junkyard, so I could go back to the normal position if I wanted too. Just opted to spend money.

I also started looking at the F1 Spec seats out there. They are a good buy, but I have heard a lot that they are tight. I PM'd with some people about them. Seems if you are more then a 32" waist, it is too tight. I was really going that way. I even about a Cobra seat, but it didn't fit well, and it actually made me higher.

The seat rails are proven from BYS, but the option of the DIY is yours. Good luck.

The type I and II seats of www.f1spec.com go up to a 40"waist

the type III only allows a max of 33/34" waist and will fit you VERY tight
