Default Aftermarket shift knobs

So ive been thinking about getting a aftermarket shift knob for a while, what do you guys think about them? A lot of people say theyre worth it but do they make a big difference? Also what brands would you recomend, I dont really like the look of the anodized titanium ones.

Also what is the difference in feel between spun titanium and spun aluminum, the titanium is 175 and aluminum is 40 so is the titanium that much better?

i like it when they're heavier... and countersunk, of course...

I like the Moddiction(sp?) ones...

they have a short shifter too...

i used to have an Axial Flow short shifter on my previous S, it was great!!!...

When I was in the market for a new knob Moddiction was out and being the impatient person I am (and not knowing how many months they would be out of stock) I went with the Blox 490. It's not countersunk but without a locknut it sits pretty low. I like the feel of the heavier shift knob as it does seem to make shifting a little bit more smooth. It's not a huge difference, but the difference is there. IMHO the biggest change is cosmetic . If you like the stock look, your knob isn't all chewed up, and you don't mind the notchiness of the gearbox (it's not that bad and it is nice having a little bit more feedback), then no reason to spend the money.

I was curios about this too. I love OEM so I was going to get the titanium one for $120.... Pricey, but I love the look. My gearbox is very smooth.

I switched over from the barrel shift knob that came stock on my AP1 to the CR shiftknob. I wanted a ball, and the yellow guides went well with my car. I dont think it's any heavier as they are both OEM parts, but I like it MUCH better just because of the shape of the shifter

yep, the stock CR knob is nice, especially for the price. also if you dont want yellow numbers im pretty sure you can use a different OEM knob that has red numbers, i think hadrtopguy sells it

Aside from the cosmetics, it's so much a matter of personal taste. I find a heavy (TWM Abrams) knob too numb, especially on the OEM shifter. It's great on an AxialFlow. On the Moddiction short shifter the CR knob is perfect. Fortunately it's a cheap and easy enough mod that if you don't like a knob, just sell it and try another.

I prefer heavy ones. Light ones are just too knotchy. Can't go wrong with Moddiction countersunk ones. I don't see the point of spending $100 for a knob seriously.

Another vote for Moddiction shift knobs right here! I have the spun aluminum Anvil. It is heavier than the titanium ones he sells, which is a plus for me (this is personal preference). It is also cheaper than the titanium, I think mine was $60.

I personally think the shift knob made a huge difference in driving experience. The knob sits lower and is heavier, which makes the shifts feel smoother and more natural. Almost like you are more connected with the car, if that makes any sense. Also, I think the Anvil looks a lot better than the OEM knob.
