Default air pump delete illegal in cali

Checking into the mod looks like you lose 10lbs and clean up the engine bay for about 100 dollars. Probably not gunna do it just tinkering around. But can you fail a smog by not having the pump in California or dose it matter how therow the smog tech is hahaha...

i dont live in cali but from my understanding, removing the airpump will cause the CEL to come on. with that you would fail any emmissions test and most likely california smog test as well. and according to the state of california, it might give you cancer too.

If the kit keeps the cel from coming on, you should be fine, however if the cops find out, your gonna need some anal lube.

Pass or fail it wouldn't make any difference. It's illegal to remove ANY emmission control part from any vehicle and I can almost guarantee they would notice.

Air pump is part of the catalyst system and will make the CEL come on. You will pass the emissions in California, but you won't pass the system inspection so you will fail your SMOG test. I have personally had this happen to me when I removed my air pump.

With no airpump they can't visually see it and through the pipe it will still pass. Soon we won't have a sniffer and it will just be checking the readiness monitors if they are all ready or not

Last time I checked they just checked the monitors? I have an 01 and they didnt need the sniffer. I was told if you have an obd2 equipped vehicle you do not need the sniffer. But this might vary place to place..
