Default Airbag Suspension

Hey guys,

Thinkin about getting airbag suspension?... reckon its a good idea? If not why?
I really need to lower my car and looking thru threads, quite frankly im not going to risk my life and ride for cheap coilovers... Tein all the way... $2200 fitted!!
Putting lowered suspension (king springs) is an option too but i have to roll the front guards so its gonna cost me round $800 anyway for the whole job and if cops pick on me i cant just lift it. here's a pic of my car tell me what u think? please no jdm opinions, lol.

Also, im thinkin instead of buying a CAI, id rather mod my oem airbox and fit a hi-flow cat to compliment. is it similar as its design is already well done and i've heard issues regarding water entering in the filter; any opinions?

Are you serious....
You'll bring disgrace to the whole S2000 community.. I understand, "To each his own"... but come on!!! If you wanted a low-rider, you should have stuck with old school chevy's or mini-trucks... This is a sports car... treat it like one

Btw, you're more so risking your life by putting some haggard-ass AIRBAGS on a car, versus installing cheap coilovers!!!

If you can't afford $2200 for correct suspension components, then perhaps you should have stuck to your previous 'civic-lifestyle'.... You've gotta pay to play....
Not to mention, I've seen pretty decent suspension for the S2000 out there for under $1500, and I'm talking about a full coilover system.. None of that Ground Control crap... but I mean Buddy Club makes some pretty inexpensive coilovers, and so does Skunk2 I presume!!! Jesus, just do some damn research!!!

"SEARCH BUTTON" ....it works

If you're looking for suspension under $1000, it seems like you're still in the civic-mindset.... it's a whole other ball game playboy.

Just my $0.02.

Tylor, not to rag on you bud BUT GC is pretty damn good coilovers for the money and knowing what I know about suspension would take them anyday over any even remotely similarly priced TEIN or BuddyClub kit. I was once a pretty sizable GC dealer and even with only dealing remotely these days can state emphatically that you are wrong here. Go ARRC and you will see GC dominate in real conditions - it's right here in Rd Atl. GC may have issues with timely delivery&c but making suspensions that work and to a pricepoint is most definitely not one of them. Hopefully Jay won't be mad I defended them.

Ok ok I get it... no airbags.
I guess Perth WA people think different to people in the US.
Oh hey "tylorweaver", if saw the hours of research i put into these issues, i wouldnt know you'd think.
Ok, im gonna look at some buddy club and skunk2 coilover. iv neva owned a civic; just beamers and audi's and this is my first sports car.
So, that outa the way, would u personaly pay that extra $500 or so for CAI or is a modded oem airbox with a k&n filter enough... and a hi-flow cat?

You have to understand, when I referred to "Ground Control" suspension, I was referring to the ground control kits that they make for S2000's specifically. Ask anyone that has run Ground Controls on an S2000 compared to a like brand, but COILOVER suspension, and you will see more praise and good words about the others versus the GC's...

For the cost of the GC coilover conversion, you are only getting the adjustability of ride height.. you then have to compromise your stock OEM struts and other suspension components for just control of your ride height????? No, sorry. I'd much rather spend good money on a good set of coilovers, with matched struts, resevoir's, etc..

You can still go for the $1200 "complete coilover system" from Ground Control.. but, honestly, what do you see more of on race cars? or some of the faster S's you see at the track? Sorry, but not Ground Controls... I've ran a buddy of mine's AP2 at the track and he had a Ground Control Complete Coilover kit on his car, with the same tires as mine, and I believe the only thing suspension-wise he had different in his car than mine, was the coilovers... The car just felt like it pushed in the corners and never sat snug in the corners.. it did not feel predictable at all.. and Believe me, we even had a GC rep out there 'tuning' his coilovers for him all day...

I think that it's just not a well-engineered component for an S2000... I've driven other S2000's with other suspension setups, and have felt MORE than comortable entering a 3rd gear corner with plenty of late braking and hitting the rumbles on the inside all day... However when I tried the same with the GC AP2, I felt like the car was going to push straight through the corner!!!!

Regardless, to each his own...

You will lose all the performance aspect of your suspension with an airbag system, but for a show car or picture whore I like the idea.

Do it, Slam it, & post the Pictures.

Don't do it...you will lose all of the performace aspect of the car. Slam it the right way with a good set of coilovers and you are all set

on the airbags. Coilovers or lowering springs w/ a good damper are gonna be your best bet. IMO if you're going to track the car you're best bet is going to be a quality coilover system. On the other hand maybe a good lowering spring/damper (i.e. Tein S-Tech, Eibach Pro Kit, Swift Springs etc... and Koni Yellows) may be your best bet if it's going to be a DD/Street car.
