Default Any interest in this part?

So I've been pretty annoyed by my seat squeaking against the back of the car. I've tried a few things to eliminate it but nothing really seemed to work. So last weekend I got creative with a razor cutter, fabric and adhesive. I managed to cut and trace a perfect "pad" that creates a silhouette around the chair so it's barely visible. The material is soft and doesn't squeak.

Problem solved. No more squeaks, from the chair rubbing against the rear plastic anyhow.

So, like some other folks in the S2K world, I was thinking of making some and selling them. Wanted to check for interest first. I'm guessing there might be not much, but what the heck. I've seen other stuff sell for $100 - $200.

Thinking out loud ... would $50 per "pad" be acceptable?

NOTE: I am NOT selling anything here. If I do, I'll post it in the FOR SALE forums. I'd make this an S2KI exclusive item (ie., only listed on S2KI).

You still would not be able to sell it. Since it still would be considered commercial. You would need a sponsorship.

Im in the same boat as this guy^ (seat not all the way back) but I thought I would give my opinion. I think it would be hard to push only because i'm sure most members would credit you with the idea and just make it themselves since it sounded like most member would be able to do this themselves. Again my .02, I think its a good idea though, might just be hard to sell.

Yeah, no doubt people would be able to make it. I'm looking for those with a) a bit of extra money and b) not much time who c) are nerds about their cars like me (and most of you). If I sold a couple per week I'd be fine with it. Not looking to get rich on this.

But ... that being said ... I'd be making something that fits exactly and only takes 10 minutes to install. It took me over an hour to cut / adhere one by hand. So for $50 you save yourself 50 minutes and potentially end up with a better product.

Thanks for the info on not being able to sell it. Hmm ... maybe I could pitch it to Modifry or somebody else.

Or ... could I become a sponsor too? I own and am on the board of a few LLCs so it could be legit if I did it under one of those (some are idea based LLCs with missions centered around creating new technologies).

You can PM Cthree to become a sponsor if interested. Not hard to become one but just have to pay the monthly fee's.
Interesting idea. Hard to say if there would be lots of interest or not though.
If your only hoping to sell a couple a week it probably won't cover the sponsor costs really to make much profit off them.
Interested in seeing some pictures though.

$50 would be waaaaaay to much for what it actually is. You would have to sell quite a few to make the sponsorship package worth it.

If it is a good product, you could always work something out with an existing sponsor and have them to carry it (like the hardtop liners). Pics would be good!
