Default Any Risks with non-OEM Keys?

Kind of a weird question, but is there any risks with using a non OEM key? mainly with the transponder / chip in it?

saw someone on fbook post some "oem style" keys that are like the AP2 keys with the silver part, for $50. from dealerships these things cut and programmed are upwards of $200-300.

is there any risks with getting a knock off key with a knock off transponder in it? or am i being paranoid? i don't know how programming keys works so i don't know if that is something that can be tampered with or something like that. i had to get one done years ago when my s2000 was stolen but i didn't see any of the process happen.
thanks for any info and sorry if this sounds dumb

pictures are supposed to be of the actual key(s) for sale

I would be interested in picking one of these up. The silver on my key has worn off. I expect if the key pairs successfully with the car then there would be no issue. The key will have to be cut obviously. Short of the key itself being made of crap metal and snapping off, I don't see how it would be dangerous to the car.

Those sure look like OEM key blanks.

I traded messages with this guy yesterday and he is "sold out" of keys compatible with my 04. Not sure how many he has or where he got them. He says his locksmith sold it to him. Seemed fishy the first time I spoke with him. His posting is in the SoCal S2000 parts/marketplace in Facebook.
