The reason some get spider cracks in those specific areas is because the ap1 front metal frame guard (not sure the exact name, but when you take off the front bumper, the foam is stuck to the big metal gaurd bolted onto the car) The ap2 guards are smaller, so they dont hit. Some people just cut the edges of their ap1 guard so it doesnt hit.

Either one will make the front bumper fit fine with no issues.

Here is an ap1 one I found on ebay. I didnt see any ap2 ones, but you would need an ap2 one if you wanted to swap yours out, or just cut the corners off your OEM ap1 guard.

It looks exactly the same, just smaller. Yeah I would just grind off the edges until it clears it, nobody will ever know and it works.

Yup gotta cut the edge of the beam off. I didn't do it when I swapped over and have spider cracks there and bumper doesn't seal right around the passenger headlight.

Agreed. What I did was grind off the corners and sprayed an anti-rust primer over the areas I cut off. I took off my bumper a couple months later to find that the bare metal around where i sprayed had rusted, I'm glad I applied the primer in the end.

Other than that, does the AP2 bumper bolt right on? I hit a huge rock and I'm debating on making the swap to the AP2 with an APR lip.

Yep, other than that it's all just bolt on.

Front portion of the splash shields do not bolt up to the AP2 bumper. Mine just dangle there, lol.

Ahh I forgot about that. I have seen some people just zip tie them, and it works no problem haha.
