well, all the ap1 I've driven do have a more crisp feel to it when shifting. where as ap2 does feel looser...

 

The Output Flange is different AP1/AP2. If the owner has not changed it you should be able to tell them apart that way. AP1 - Smaller holes on flange/smaller bolt pattern AP2 - Larger holes on Flange with larger bolt pattern.
