Default AP2 lip on AP1 fender liners?

Im in the process of doing an AP2 front bumper conversion and I read on another forum that AP1 fender liners can be rigged up to an AP2 bumper but the addition of an OEM AP2 lip requires AP2 fender liners. Is this true?

No sir, this is absolutely false, I have just recently completed the ap2 conversion with an OEM lip and the ap2 fender liner is not necessary. Everything bolts up for the most part. Not sketchy in anyway.

The ap1 fender liners are too short to bolt properly to the bumper. The outside bolt is about the only one that can bolt up. How exactly did you overcome the physical property of it being too short? I have seen spacer brackets and have seen people use zip ties- it can be secured enough to be safe for driving, but to be done correctly ap2 fender liners should be used.

The lip is bolted to the bumper, not the fender liners.
