Default AP2 lowering VTEC point...

Just wondering on the AP2's if there is an agreed upon point to lower the VTEC to if tuning? I've seen 5000 RPM's but that's about all I could find via a search.

6k is the stock engagement. i believe if you get vafc you can lower it. if youre an 06+ you can get a reflash for your ecu.

i have an 04, so i'm assuming that whatever the hondata reflash is lowered to, it'd be ok to do with the other ap2s...

...although it seems like they have a vtec "window".... maybe stock vtec position is sufficient enough

mine is set to 4K rpm. also, I've heard the AP2's can be spun to 8500 rpm without issues...

you need an 00 ecu, gives you extra time in VTEC, albeit up top......

according to Hondata's testing, 5600 was the lowest they could lower an otherwise "stock" '06. with a header and testpipe, they went down to 4200. however, there is at least one person (search for the very long thread titled something like "Hondata Reflash is Here") running the header program w/o an aftermarket header who reports no ill effects.

Can VTEC engagement be programmed with the VAFC?

Can it also be programmed with K-Pro?

i think the idea behind the window is that there is no need to be on the high cam if you're just cruising around below 6k rpm. if WOT, then you get the benefits of it, if not, then you maintain the fuel economy of the low cam.
