Default AP2 muffler styles

Hey all,

If this has been answered before please direct me, I couldn't find anything.

I recently went and inspected an ap2 oem catback exhaust that is for sale in my area. The purpose of me buying this is to be able to do the uk mod, but not change anything on the stock exhaust that came with my car.

When I got there to look at it I noticed that the exhaust did not have the loop out of the back of the muffler which is needed for the uk mod so I didn't buy it.

When I got home I inspected my exhaust (07) to confirm that I did in fact have the loop out of the back of the muffler.

So, is the uk mod only possible on the ap2v2 exhausts? Was the one that I looked at not actually an ap2 exhaust? Thanks!

You can only do the "UK mod" on the stock exhaust, not an aftermarket "cat back system." Only the OEM exhausts have the "loop."

The exhausts, other than the few hundred CR models, are the same other than the tips. Pre 2004 cars have round Civic tips 2004 and later got Acord oval tips. Looks like this. Off the car, of course.

Here an aftermarket muffler from my discarded Invidia Q300. No loop.

For your 2007 I recommend the Tanabe Medalion Touring exhaust. No drone (unlike the Q300) aggressive in VTEC, docile in conservative driving. Search "drone." There are hundreds of threads on exhaust here.

Hey Chuck thanks for the reply.

I'm on board with understanding that it's only done to stock exhausts and also what the differences are between the tip appearance of ap2 vs ap1.

The exhaust I looked at today had the ap2 tips, was listed as ap2, but it was missing the loop out of the back of the exhaust. Without that loop, the U.K. Mod isn't possible. Is this a changed ap1 exhaust? A custom? It had Honda branding. Here's a link to a picture I took of it.

If its a stock exhaust system and doesn't have the loop then its likely a CR exhaust. Supposedly the CR exhaust is a little more throaty. Usually they command a higher price on the used market too.

Do any of you know how to officially tell if it's a CR exhaust?

As others have said, it is a CR exhaust. Base AP1 and AP2 exhaust have the loop.

Check out the link below.
