Default ARC knob vs. VOODOO Knob

I know....I know, the shift knob topic has been covered ad nauseam. But there are some questions/comparisons that have not been covered. My questions are as follows:

most importantly - Which one sits lower?

How much bigger than stock are they( think club racer style)?

Does the VOODOO have a plastic insert like the ARC?

Does being made from titanium really make that much of a difference?

To those of you that have a Voodoo with an engraving, how close to straight was the knob when fully tightened. I would like to avoid using locktite.

I am sure that some of the responses that I will recieve will be sarcastic, and i expect that, but I am an anal @#%^.

I believe that there's aren't many knobs that can sit lower than the voodoo because the shaft diameter opens to a larger diameter which makes it impossible to go any lower. And there was only about .3 of an inch left between the top of the shaft and the bottom of the "countersunk" threads/hole.

i don't know how big exactly the CR knob is but the voodoo magnum (better imho) is about 2" in diameter. I used to have the Voodoo Magnum Ti knob. It felt great!

i personally machined my own knob out of 303 stainless but kept the same 2 " diameter and tried to lower the knob a little more (was only able to get another .1 inch lower). The main difference is the weight. The heavier weight actually helps to smooth the throw more mine weighs about 1 lbs. You would get the same result from switching to titanium vs aluminum. Some like it heavy for the smoothness and less effort, some like the lightweight knobs.

hope that helps.

(edit: it weighs 1 lb!)

my problem with the ARC knob is that it feels like a marble, its really small, especially if you have big hands. I had one in my miata.

I think the greddy knob threads all the way through, I just picked one up and ill see how low it sits.

I have the Ti Voodoo know, by far my favorite one so far....love the weight, the feel and the length of the throw. There are no plastic inserts for the voodoo knobs.

I guess this is an opportunity to whore out my new pictures ^^. I have basically what the ARC mirror Ti knob would look like.

I didn't like how low the knob sat without the locking nut so I put it back on. It goes down low enough to touch the boot without the nut. You might be able to see, the nut is pretty high up lol.

the knob isn't really that big. Smaller then the CR probably. I have a picture of it in my hands if you want. I dont know about the ARC one but the one in mine is metal.

You can pretty safely assume that it isn't going to be straight when fully tightened. I can't say for certain but I believe several threads address your options for getting the engraving to line up (I didn't bother with it -- I know the shift pattern).
