Default authenticity of mugen ap1 exhaust

I bought a used Mugen exhaust a few weeks ago and it seems to be a bit more loud then I expected. How do I tell if it's real? It has the Jasma, Mugen, and serial number stamped on it. Other then that how do you tell? I'll post pics later tonight if that helps.

Maybe a broken resonator?

Uh...I have never seen a Mugen replica exhaust...but from the top of my head. On the bottom of each muffler there is the Mugen Logo etched on there. And you named the Jasma and serial number...seems like it should be a real one.

I guess I scared myself since I was researching why it was louder then expected.

I don't remember seeing the Mugen logo on each can but did see it on the resonator.

The mufflers are wrapped in Ti and riveted at the end of the muffler as well...take some pictures of the underside of the exhaust at the resonator, and mufflers.

Could've sworn I read a thread about someone claiming "someone" else bought a Mugen copy since it was "cheap". All hearsay...

Glad to know 2 others haven't seen any copies/replicas.

I'll take pics tonight when I get home and squash this thought in my head. Hate to spend the amount I did to find out it was fake.

Dyno it, if you got gains, it's fake.

J/K, seems like you got the real deal. You could also put a magnet on the piping and muffler, it won't stick to Ti or 304 stainless steel. I'd guess a copy would be cheaper metal.

Yeah... like others have said I have never seen or heard of a replica Mugen exhaust. I have a Mugen AP2 Sport Exhaust and it does have the Jasma, Mugen, and serial number stamped on it. It should be loud but not annoying or obnoxiously loud. It has a very mean deep growl yet conservative when you're just cruising.

I am going to say this though, the Mugen AP1 exhaust is pretty damn quite...no drone, and just a bit deeper than stock.

It's probably the combination of the new exhaust and loud clutch buzz is making me crazy. The exhaust isn't raspy droning but from 1500 to 4500 rpm it is definately louder. After that it is all engine like before. Pics will come after I get home.
