Auto swap
I have a black on black/red 2008 S with 19k on it and i'm sick of shifting for myself. On top of that the transmission is among the worst ive ever driven, including a few base Jettas and a 1972 corvette. I found this guy working out of a small alley warehouse in hialeah who says he can swap in that new ZF 8 speed auto they use in the Jaguars and Range Rovers and I'm really interested. I'd even get the rotary shiftknob! Can anyone offer some advice?

The worst you have ever driven? Wow. Have you changed the transmission fluid? It helps quite a bit to have fresh fluid in the car. FYI it is widly know that the s2000 has one of the BEST shifting manual transmissons ever made.
If your 'tired' of shifing and are used to a different feel of transmission maybe you should buy a used Saturn Sky or Sostice or even a Miata and get yourself an automatic. Because honestly dude, If thats really your opinion then you were never intended to own an S2000.
Having said that. There are things about the s2000 I wanted to change. For example, I did not like the Clutch Delay Valve or the heavy AP2 Flywheel, or how soft the clutch is. So I swapped to an AP1 Flywhee, AP1 Clutch Slave Cyl, and an ACT Clutch. This made the shifts AMAZING and gave much better and firm feel. Granted this is NOT the transmission, it was the clutch system I was unhappy with.
