Default Autometer gauges

just wondering what the difference was in the mechanical gauges and electrical gauges autometer offers? Is one better than the other?

What are the downsides to mechanical?
...electrical?

do you have to have a control unit with the autometer electrical gauges like you do with the defi gauges?

Also, whats the difference in full sweep and short sweep gauges?

last question, is there a 3 pod pillar? All I can find is a 2 pod pillar

the nexus gauges are the only one that comes with a controller if i remember correctly.

i would suggest running electrical gauges because of ease of install and peace of mind, instead of running a line like oil press and have the line leak or break inside the car is a big PITA. Electrical gauges are just more expensive.

ya, i noticed the full sweep electrical gauges were more expensive, but the short sweep electrical gauges were the same price as mechanical. Thats why I was wondering what the difference was in full sweep and short sweep?

The difference is how far the needle travels across the face of the gauge. The short sweep only makes use out of 1/4 of the gauge face, the full sweep makes use out of 3/4.

To make it easier to picture, just picture a clock. The short sweep gauge will go from 10 to 2, the full sweep will go from 7 to 5.

Also, since you mentioned Defi, if that's the kind of style gauge you want, without breaking your bank and needing a controller, I highly suggest checking out Prosport Gauges. I have their Premium Peak Boost and Oil pressure gauges and I absolutely love them.

Those are considered full sweep. If the clock thing confused you, just look at the boost gauge. A short sweep Autometer would only be from 5-25 (roughly) on the boost half of the gauge.
