Default Backyard Special seat rail stuck all the way back

Y'all, I'm about to set my car on fire.

I have the BYS seat rail installed on the driver's side. The seat rail got stuck all the way back, and I think it's stuck against the bolt holding the seat rail into the car. Has anyone dealt with this before? Suggestions?

Mine can be tough to move forward when I slide the seat back completely to vacuum the floorboard. In my case, the seat bottom is rubbing on the floorboard and will move with some persuasion applied.

If the bottom is not stuck, maybe something stuck in the rail tracks?

Mine never slides well, as its difficult to align both sides, left rail and right rail, when final tighten mounting bolts to floor. They aren't perfectly parallel. So seat binds in rails as it slides.

Maybe this is your issue. If it is, loosening the mounting boots you can reach, front ones, should alleviate. Allow rails to rotate on rear mounting bolts to become parallel as seat is slid.

It'd still be a fight, as rear bolts still tight, so seat woukd need to use leverage of length of rail as a crude wrench to loosen bolts enough become parallel as it slides.

So maybe help it along by grabbing rail at front and wiggle them, try slide again.

Wow, this was a helpful response. I was able to get three bolts off, two off the front and one off the rear closest the door. The only bolt holding the rail in place now is the rear bolt by the trans tunnel. I will try to move the seat forward using a crowbar or something. I appreciate your help.

I don't think anything is stuck since I just installed it and the floor was clean, but I'll check.

Same issue with mine on the passenger side....BYS rails are great for what they're meant for but I can't wait to ditch them for my Recaros and PCI sliders...

I honestly just got the seat where I wanted it, too. I cut out the extra cushion on the bottom of the driver's seat, about 2 inches worth, and it made the seat sink into the pan. Total drop was 3 inches and was incredible. Then this shit happened and now the seat is too far back to matter. I can't wait, too.

Yup....both of mine have been stuck....My friend fiddled with the driver one and it hasn't gotten stuck since luckily, but the passenger one I had working fine, installed the seat, slid it once, and now it's stuck.....and I'm in the same boat as you....It's stuck basically all the way back so I can't get to the rear bolts to remove the seat....One way or another I'm getting that thing out of there.

Honestly, I’m one beer and a scraped knuckle away from just lifting the car on stands and cutting the bottom of the bolt.

edit: I don’t drink that often, but this seat rail is making me reconsider

I got it! Basically, get a silicone-based spray lube that works great for locks/door hinges (WD-40 makes some). I sprayed the ever loving shot out of the tracks, the teeth that lock the rail into place, and the bolt that the rail gets stuck on. Then, after removing the 3 other bolts, I put my hand against the track and pushed while pulling up on the adjustment handle. I wiggled it and it finally came free.

I then added 250 lbs zipties to prevent the seat from moving. It limits articulation to like 3 inches, but I don't give a **** after that bullshit.

It took me 5 hours to get it free.

Here is a video that kind of explains what I did. If it doesn't work, it's probably still being processed by YouTube:
