Default Bad Catalytic Converter...options?

Hey guys and gals,

Every once and a while my car throws a code for the secondary o2 sensor. I went to replace it today, and it appears the contents in my stock cat shifted, not allowing me to replace the o2 sensor. So what I'm wondering is what are my options that will not throw a CEL, will pass inspection, and emissions. What I found through the search:

Test pipe - cheapest, has a bung for the o2 so it won't throw a code, but will probably fail inspection and/or emissions

Hi-flow cat - a bit more expensive, will pass inspection no problem, shouldn't throw a CEL, but might fail emissions?

OEM cat - obviously the most legit option, but also the most expensive

Well guys, what are your opinions? I'm sure people have went through this before, so I would really appreciate the feedback. Thanks in advance!

P.S. I have a stock header and exhaust, and plan on keeping them stock.

Go with a Berk hfc. I think the only state you won't pass emissions testing is CA but, I'm not entirely sure. If not, PM me. I've got an oem ap2 cat that I'm about to sell.

Thanks for the info man. It's an 06 with 54k, so yes I am within that. I never heard of this warranty before, do I just call Honda and tell them the situation and they fix it free of charge? The exhaust has never been modified.

Jman, tried to PM you but it wouldn't let me.

You can shift the honeycombs back to allow install of o2 sen. But good chance they will shift and break it. I would get tp and remember to borrowa cat or put urs bk o/ at least a week so the ecu records enough data to pass smog.jut six bolts to remove and put back on every two years.

Get a berk HFC or asura if you can get a hold of them. You will probably like it more anyhow

Yes, I just got a new cat put in under warranty - its a Federal reg so the dealership will replace it free of cost if they diagnose it as a bad cat, but it sounds pretty obvious that it is.
