Default Balance CompTech Adjustable AntiSway Bar?

I installed the CompTech adjustable front anti-sway bar and like it a lot, except that now the car understeers. I'd like to restore the oversteer and think I need to beef up the rear anti-sway bar. Does anyone have a recommendation? I have the adjustable set all the way to the max.

What size tires are you running? Why not start by setting the bar full soft?

Because I like the flat cornering the maximum setting provides. Why do you ask about the tire size? How does that affect anything?

^^ The wider the tire the more grip. So if you are running small front tires, you can compensate for understeer from the swaybar by stepping up a size.

Comptech didn't make an adj rear sway bar. I would highly advise against adding a larger rear swaybar to the s2k...it will oversteer far more than you imagine and increase the tendency to snap oversteer.

Instead use camber settings and tire sizes to get the balance you want. You may need more front negative camber. Do you know what your alignment settings are?

I think the camber settings are for normal road wear. I'm running the stock rims but put the same tires on the front as on the back to compensate. You're right, it helps. I'd like to upgrade the suspension one step up for the occasional autox and spiriting road driving, so I'm thinking of sport springs and shocks, having the camber set more agressively, getting new rims - 8 in front and 9 in back. I was thinking that I needed to restore the oversteer before I do anything more, hence the question about balancing the front antisway bar. Comptech makes a pair and I was considering putting the stiffer rear (130%) on and then, if that doesn't balance, swapping the adjustable front sway bar with the one from the new set (75%). What do you think?

The Comptech adj bar was designed for autoX with cars that run oversize front tires with max - camber (I run 245 and 275 Hoosier A6 and have around -1.6 camber up front). If you are running OEM size tires you are going to have a car balanced heavily towards understeer. Wider front tires will help restore the balance somewhat but not with that bar set full stiff. I run my bar 2 from full soft.

You basically have too much front bar. Set it full soft with your current setup.

And honestly...if you do soften the adj bar, you won't notice much increased body roll.

The front bar you have is the 2nd best available for autox and is stiffer than the non-adj Comptech. I wouldn't go to a softer front bar and give up adjustability should you change your tire & alignment settings to take advantage of that front bar.

Thanks guys. That makes sense. I'll widen the tires, set the bar softer, and increase the camber. Will a stiffer rear bar help or hurt?

You do not need a rear bar.
