Default Battery heat wrap?

Hey guys. My first battery melted on the side (it was an optima so it didn't catch on fire or anything) but it's because my turbo gets hot and it's right there by the battery. Would a battery heat shield like this help? http://www.amazon.com/Thermo-Tec-132.../dp/B003TQ03W2

I plan on getting a turbo blanket but seeing if this will do for now. Any other suggestions?

I use that on my battery, I think it works well. My car used to start slower when it was hot. Many of my other vehicles came from the factory with a blanket around them so I thought I would add one to the S2000 battery. My car isn't boosted but I ran a header without a heatshield for a while, you may need even more protection against your turbo heat, but definitely try that wrap to give the battery some protection. Your battery may need added protection along the top as well as the sides. Pic of my batter below:

I'm gonna give it a try then! Thanks for the picture. It's always the side of the battery that melts so I'll give this a shot. Thanks man.

A vented hood will do wonders to solve your problem.

Yes definitely a huge benefit with that too.

Batteries generate heat when they are in use or charging. I've thought about doing this, too, but I'm afraid you'd end up holding more heat in than out. You'll notice the review on Amazon is for someone trying to keep their battery warm, not cool.
